What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive manual treatment approach that works with the natural self-correcting mechanisms of the body. Its focus is largely upon the craniosacral system (CSS), which consists of the membranes and fluids that surround the brain and spinal cord. Palpation of the CSS allows detection and release of core issues so that the treatment focuses on the cause of dysfunction rather than symptoms.

What is the Craniosacral System?

The craniosacral system (CSS), which consists of the membranes and fluids that surround the brain and spinal cord. The CSS has the ability to influence every system in the body, such as the musculoskeletal, neurological, immune, digestive, endocrine, etc. More specifically the Craniosacral System is a semi-closed hydraulic system contained within a tough waterproof membrane, the Dura Mater, which envelops the brain and the spinal cord. An important function of this system is the production, circulation, and reabsorption of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF). CSF is produced within the Craniosacral System and maintains the physiological environment in which your brain and nervous system develop, live, and function. The production and reabsorption of CSF within the Dura Mater produces a continuous rise and fall of fluid pressure. It is this rise and fall of fluid pressure that constitutes the Craniosacral rhythm perceivable by a skilled therapist in the movement of cranial bones and throughout the body. The craniosacral rhythm, like the cardiac and respiratory pulse, can be felt throughout the body and used to monitor the function of the craniosacral system and the health of the body.”- Admin integrative physical therapy

Do you take insurance? Do you accept FSA/HSA?

Our care model is built around the specific needs of each client and family. Sessions are tailored to your treatment goals and include a full-body assessment. With babies and children we take time at the start of each session to talk through feeding, sleep, and calming strategies. Together, we can practice breast/chestfeeding and explore more comfortable bottle-feeding positions. We also support families with the TummyTime! Method—a therapeutic approach you can use at home to promote your baby’s posture, strength, movement, and connection. While we do not bill insurance directly, we accept Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flex-Spending Accounts (FSA) for payment. When sessions are used to treat a specific medical condition, craniosacral therapy may be eligible with a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). You are responsible for checking your plan’s eligibility. We’re happy to provide a SuperBill after each session for you to submit to your insurance provider.

What is your cancellation policy

Clients have up to 48 hours before the appointment time to reschedule without penalty. If they cancel an appointment less than 24 hours in advance, or no-show, they are responsible for paying the full session fee. Nourish and Align has the right to waive the fee in the case of a significant emergency or at practice discretion. Infant Immersion Package: A $250 deposit is required at the time of booking and is applied toward the total package price. The remaining balance of the package is paid in full at the time of the initial evaluation. This package is reserved specifically for each family and holds dedicated appointment space within the practice schedule. Cancellation for the immersion without penalty are up to the end of business on the Thursday before my initial evaluation. Cancellations made after this time result in the $250 deposit becoming nonrefundable. Once the Infant Immersion Package has begun, missed or canceled sessions are not deducted from the total package price and are not eligible for refunds. If an emergency comes up, the practice will make every reasonable effort to help reschedule missed sessions so that the full package may be completed within an appropriate time frame.

How many CST sessions will I need?

The amount of sessions vary and are based on the client’s state of health and treatment goals. For a client planning a tongue tie release, it is recommended bodywork before and after the procedure. Before a tongue tie release bodywork reduces tension to assist with a full release. After the release, bodywork reduces maladaptive movements, and assists in preventing reattachment. Generally, for those who want to come in for wellness visits, and are in good health, it is recommend monthly or bimonthly sessions. In our experience when someone comes in with an acute or chronic condition, a recommendation of 2- 4 sessions close together to focus on relief. Next we address the root of the cause and may schedule sessions a few weeks apart. Some clients then choose to come in monthly or every other month for maintenance.

Can I book a session for multiple children in one visit?

Yes! Once we have established care with an initial evaluation sibling sessions are available for siblings that a parent feels would be comfortable receiving care together. Twins are welcome and allotted time for bodywork for both babies. Please utilize the twin booking option or contact us.

Can I book a session for myself and my child?

Yes! Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle form of bodywork that is ideal for parents to receive along with their new baby or older child together. This aids in the release of tension, creates connection, and combines healing.

Do you have a waiting list?
